FAQs 1. Love the idea - how much does it cost?Prices vary for each package, and we do offer a customised service, filming either in the UK, Australia or abroad. For further information, please Contact Us. We can even film your family holidays as a keepsake for the future. The cost, however, is small compared to the many years of enjoyment that the film will bring along the legacy that will be there for all time. 2. What are the differences in the packages?Mainly the differences come down to where we film, how much time we spend interviewing (i.e. family and friends), the duration of the film and how many extras we add in such as filming places of historical interest to the story, archive news film, personalised newspaper headlines, and graphics etc, which all take time to produce in the edit suite. 3. What if my loved one is too nervous to be filmed? We are highly specialised and skilled at interviewing; indeed our interviewers have had many years training to ensure that the star is put at ease within minutes. We also film a lot of footage, so the interviewee soon settles down as we take a fantastic trip down memory lane. Many of our clients express that they didn't realise quite how much they had lived or achieved in their lifetime, which is really lovely. It is not uncommon for tears (of happiness!) to start flowing as those memories become so vivid once again. Interestingly, quite a few clients do not think they have much of interest to say, and it's only when the questions start rolling do they realise quite how interesting their story is.
As for the relatives and friends, we all know that it can be very hard for many people to express their feelings about someone they love to their face. It has, however, proved much easier to tell them on camera exactly what they love about them, and why, along with sharing favourite memories.
Sadly, many people never get to hear why someone loves them, or how much, during their lifetime, so this is truly a very special gift indeed.
4. Isn't it easier and cheaper for them to write a book? No! Firstly, so few people ever get around to writing a book because it takes so much work, and requires enormous focus and concentration. And where does one start when writing a book? Also to get the autobiography proof read, edited and then published takes years and costs thousands. Finally the end result is so one dimensional because you cannot hear or see the author talk about their history with the accompanying emotion, music and film, and interviews with friends and family. 5. How many and what type of effects do you include? We aim to be as tasteful as one would expect from a premium service such as this. We show you samples of previous films and you can choose which style you prefer. Most of our clients like the styles we work with, and that's why we send out a sample DVD for people to see, in advance, what the finished film looks like. 6. What do you mean by High Definition TV cameras?TV pictures have been filmed in Standard Definition for years. High Definition is the latest development. The picture quality is fantastic and is the biggest thing to happen to TV since colour sets were introduced. Don't worry if you do not have a High Definition TV, as the picture quality is still amazing even on old TV's. This just makes sure that the film is future proofed for future generations. 7. How do you choose the music? We tend to work threefold on this. Firstly we get the clients preferences, and this forms the basis of the soundtrack. We then use music that is particular to any era and finally use 'emotive' music where necessary to highlight certain aspects of the film. We have a vast library of music to choose from, including more obscure titles and the end result has a feel of a cinematic score. 8. Is the music licensed?Yes. We work closely with the relevant music licensing bodies in each country to ensure that your film and soundtrack is properly licensed. 9. Can you include any old archive photos of our birthplace etc?Yes! We include archive photos from our Partners, saving you hundreds.
